Stop Bill C-4, the Anti-Refugee Bill

Canada shouldn’t persecute refugees. Bill C-4 will make it legal to throw refugees in jail, even women & children.

Within weeks, the House of Commons will vote on Bill C-4, a new law that would give the Harper Government sweeping new powers to limit the rights and freedoms of refugees.

This bill does nothing to target human smugglers — as the government would have you believe. Instead, it targets refugees escaping persecution, war, famine and disease.

The bill creates two classes of refugees and would give authorities the power to:

  • Detain a family for one year without review;
  • Deny access to appeal processes;
  • Limit freedom of movement; and,
  • Restrict family reunification.

We believe this bill violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, international law and lacks basic human compassion.

Liberal MPs and Senators are rallying Canadians to Stop Bill C-4, the Anti-Refugee Bill.
